My goal of fifty blogs continues. I have been trying to diversify away from creating all real estate sites and have come up with a few alternatives so far. My main niche that I have stuck with for years is that of real estate. I picked real estate several years ago mostly because everyone in the world has a reason to be looking for information on real estate. I have noticed traffic from all over the world on many of my real estate related sites. Also, the topic of real estate is one that can cover a wide range subjects anywhere from real estate listings, to flipping properties, to home improvement you will find an interest in all somewhere in the world.

Knowing the successes that I have had within the real estate marketing niche, I have attempted to come up with other areas that I think could be just as popular and here are a few that I have come up with; college information sites, product review sites, and several career specific sites. While I have been working the real estate niche for around ten years now and have had some success at it, I have noticed that most of the other categories that I choose have not really compared to that of real estate. I attribute the success of the real estate niche to the fact that I have stayed focused on one specific area for a long period of time and that seems to have faired well with the search engines.

The only real problem with focusing on one specific niche is that most niches will follow a public trend. Lately, real estate has been a tough niche to tackle because of the major down turn in the real estate market. I have learned that you need to change your focus when this happens and try to accompdate for the trend. For example, the real estate industry is in a downward spiral but foreclosures are on the rise. This has prompted me to make some adjustments within my real estate sites to include more information on foreclosures and the site traffic seems to have stabilized.

If you are trying to come up with a new niche to profit off then you should always be trying to come up with something that is somewhat flexible, something that can grow with time, and something that has sustainability. I have learned through my own experience that this is not an easy task but I have learned that when you pick the right niche there is an opportunity to make a healthy profit.
